TPMS faults, relearn & calibration
Which monitoring system does it use?
Direct: sensor → vehicle
Indirect: vehicle data → reference
What customers call “resetting”
| Task | What changes | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure correction | Actual air pressure | Needed before an applicable reset/calibration |
| Sensor replacement / programming | Hardware or sensor configuration | Compatible direct-system service when required |
| Relearn | Vehicle recognition of sensors/positions | Actual vehicle procedure controls |
| Indirect calibration | System reference | Applicable indirect system after pressure/work requirements |
Correct the problem before a reset
A fault warning does not identify the failed component. Causes may include sensor/battery issues, damage, corrosion, compatibility/programming, relearn/calibration or other system faults. Actual pressure and the system design must be checked first.
Speedy J’s provides TPMS service, sensor replacement and reset/relearn where applicable. Capability depends on the vehicle/system; not every sensor or programming protocol is supported.
After rotation on an applicable indirect system
- Check and correct the pressures first.
- Use the vehicle’s instructions to determine whether this rotation requires calibration.
- Perform that system’s specified procedure; do not assume a replacement sensor is needed.
Never calibrate or reset to conceal incorrect pressure.

Application-specific details and scope
Sensor batteries do not have a guaranteed universal lifespan. Honda’s cited guidance illustrates indirect-system calibration after pressure adjustment, rotation or replacement when required; the exact model’s procedure controls.
